Last week I mentioned I’ll be changing the way I manage weekly #FollowFriday on Twitter. This week is the first week of this new change, so lets see who I think you should be following this week (ordered alphabetically). [Read The Rest Of This Entry]

Follow Friday – Not Just For Twitter Anymore
Every Friday, Twitter is filled with Follow Friday (#FF) mentions. These are people you like, think others should follow, and keep tabs on. In a way, it’s virtual pimping, in 140 characters. While I participate and enjoy #FF, I also have some annoyances with it. The weekly trend can clog a Twitter stream with the many names you should follow. It’s also hard to say why you think you should follow someone in under 140 characters. Also, many people have a Twitter account, not everyone is checking it on Friday.
Twitter moves at such a frantic pace, if I make a slew of mentions early in the day, no one may ever see them. I also like to provide reasons why you should pay attention to the people I recommend. Sometimes it’s a blog post, sometimes it’s something they said, other times it’s because they are cool people. I can’t always do that on Twitter.
So starting this week, I’m changing how I handle Follow Friday’s. Every week, I’ll create a post as my weekly Follow Friday post. I’ll include the names of individuals, why I think you should follow them, and what ever other information I feel should be included. I’ll also update my Follow Friday Twitter List (@singlecityguy/follow-friday) so that you can be updated with my weekly favorites.
This is just one step in a slew of upcoming changes to SCG, one that I think will benefit not just the readers of this blog, but add some sanity to the virtual pimping that is Follow Friday.
Blind Dating On Broadway (#SingleOnBway)

I think dating thru social media is a great idea, you get to know a person better thru Twitter or Facebook than any particular dating website. When I discovered #SingleOnBway, I instantly thought this was a brilliant idea. It’s an opportunity to meet someone new, go on a blind date with them, and see The Pride, staring Hugh Dancy, Adam Jones, Andrea Riseborough and Ben Whishaw at the MCC Theater. The Evolution of Dating Thru Social Media
Social media has changed the way many date in today’s modern world. While Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace are social networking tools, they are often used as ways to find local singles in today’s social web. Thanks to Twitter, my dating opportunities has increased, for example I’ve had just as many dates (all specifically non-date dates) from Twitter as I’ve had from OkCupid (all specifically pre-dates and first-dates.) Of the two, my dates thru Twitter have been the most successful. At times it feels as if it is easier to date thru Twitter than OkC. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]
Dating Thru Twitter

My OkCupid profile isn’t going so well. After two weeks of being revived I’m not getting responses to messages sent out. Some of this is my fault and the approaches I’ve taken to online dating. I’ve found it interesting that I’m drawing more interest thru my Twitter account as SCG than my actual dating profile. Come to think of it, I’ve had more success dating with my real Twitter accounts than any online dating site. This raises a set of interesting questions, such as what online dating means in today’s social media world? [Read The Rest Of This Entry]
