How Quickly A Year Flies By

This week SCG turns 1 year old (Officially, unofficially, it was a few weeks ago). What started as a way to vent about my weird and complicated single life has turned into a learning process about myself, dating, relationships, and most importantly, the knowledge that I’m not the only guy going thru some of these problems. All men go thru many of the same issues, but discussing them is a scary and frustrating process. Many times we’re embarrassed or made to feel belittled by our thoughts. There aren’t many places were we can be ourselves; we’re often shoved more Spike TV and the Lingerie Football League to placate our questions and issues as single men. If anything, Single City Guy, over the past year, has been a learning experience. One that I’ve enjoyed!

I hope, this first year of Single City Guy has been enjoyable, insightful, entertaining, and helpful for you as it has been for me. Now, onto year two with a new logo (dubbed “The Phalic Tie”)

And for a nostalgic walk down memory lane, here are the two other logo’s of Single City Guy used over the year:

Single City Guy Original Logo - "The Man Pill"

Absent Anyone?

I’m surprised by the volume of questions as to my absence over the last month. I’m deeply flattered and sincerely apologize for the absence, but time off was necessary. I needed a vacation! The comments and myths about my disappearance are largely exaggerated (mainly by myself ). No, I’m not dead (obviously as this isn’t being written from the grave), but I took the last month to reevaluate several things in life, including this blog. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]

What I’ve Been Busy Working On: A New Design

It’s been roughly six months since I’ve begun blogging as Single City Guy. I began this project without knowing what would happen, if I it would become a successful blog or if it would get laughed off the face of the Internet. The latter hasn’t happened yet.

Some of you may have noticed that over the last few weeks my posting has become sporadic. I wish I could blame the girlfriend, travel schedules and work, but the reason has more to do with the blog itself. I made myself a promise when I started, if in six months the blog displays promise, I would consider the next steps in its development. Six months, 40,000 page views, 800 followers, 85 twitter lists later, I have come to consider this little project of mine some sort of success.

The first, next step, is creating a new design. By trade I’m a web developer, and decided it was time to move from the popular Fusion theme by Digitalnature and onto my own. Welcome to the “Single City Guy” theme! Try it out, explore the website, and tell me what you think, what works and what doesn’t! I will note, this website works best with a modern web browser (i.e. Google Chrome, Firefox 3.6, Internet Explorer 8).

Hope you enjoy the new design, and other new changes that will be coming shortly!

Clubbing Stories Week

The weather is warming which means it’s high season for heading out to the clubs! And get your groove on. Clubbing is a signifiant part of the single lifestyle, it’s where you can meet many potential singles and let loose many of your inhibitions. The clubbing dating scene is much different than the online dating scene. I’ve had some success with it, and many failures. This week, I’m goin to detail all of the things I’ve learned from being single and clubbing. Hopefully they will help you enjoy the warm weather festivities!

If you have any stores of yourself in da club, send me a note with your story and I’ll feature you as a guest writer for the week!

The Future of Single City Guy

So Single City Guy isn’t single anymore, which leads to some questions, mainly, what happens next?

There was a blog post not to long ago, that asked if your blog keeping you single? It was a question I asked myself while considering taking myself off of the market. The larger question was, will Single City Guy cease once I’m in a relationship? I’ve always told myself the answer would be no, but when you’re looking down the barrel of the gun, you begin to think differently. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]
