When Is It A Good Time To Break Up?

A timeline of when people breakup on Facebook

This week’s social media buzz circled around when people generally breakup; and how Facebook can help predict the timing. Data visualizer, and designer, David McCandless created a chart detailing the peaks and valleys of when people change their status from “In A Relationship” to “Single”. Of 10,000 people’s statuses, certain trends appeared; people tend to break up before Spring Break and Christmas, right before the beginning of Summer, and often on a Monday. Breaking up with someone sucks, regardless of the couples situation or position. There never is a “good” time to break up, however, there are moments where breakups should happen to cause less damage.

The Evolution of Dating Thru Social Media

Online RomanceSocial media has changed the way many date in today’s modern world. While Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace are social networking tools, they are often used as ways to find local singles in today’s social web. Thanks to Twitter, my dating opportunities has increased, for example I’ve had just as many dates (all specifically non-date dates) from Twitter as I’ve had from OkCupid (all specifically pre-dates and first-dates.)
