Meet Paul Carrick Brunson, the Modern Day Matchmaker

Many  leave a career to explore the opportunities another career and experience would provide. This was the case with dating coach and matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson, who left a wealthy portfolio management job to become a full-time matchmaker. Paul (on Twitter as @OneDegreeFromMe) began his second profession as a dating coach and matchmaker in 2008, after noticing a specific need in the black community. While running a summer camp for underserved youth in DC, he explained that, “100% of the children only had one parent in the household.” He saw the effects of the issue; having a one parent household had negatives effects on the children especially as it pertained to their culture and education level. It was the impetus for his current business and direction. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]

A Ride With the Wingman

Light trails while riding down the highway with your wingman

It’s not often I have a person helping me meet women at a bar, but there I was, at a bar with @URWingman Thomas Edwards while he helped me approach a group of four women. This was the third bar of the evening, the first was my home bar, the next two were places where he could see my game. While at the home bar, he prepped me for the next phase, giving me some tips and advice on the process of the evening. He wanted to see how how much game I had. I warned him this may be ugly. The Wingman

When I head about a male dating coach, I immediately think of Neil Strauss, Mystery and the entire PUA community. While I have my own likes and dislikes of the scene, it is effective. There are alternate methodologies to attracting women. One that begins with you as an individual, without the need to turn into a robot that treats women like a thing. Thomas Edwards, “The Professional Wingman” is someone who believes and practices this method. In a recent trip to New York City, I took a moment to meet Thomas to get inside his head a bit, and to see if he could be another potential dating coach. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]

The Dating Coach

Laurie Davis

It’s become painfully obvious that I need help attracting a date. We men only have a handful of resources available to us and a majority of are very heavy handed. It speaks from the position of a Pick-Up Artist (PUA) whose sole intention is to find a “right now” woman. While these methods work, they aren’t my style, I really don’t feel like objectifying women as notches on my bedpost. PUA techniques do help raise confidence and gives us a chance at meeting women but really doesn’t help us meet quality women. Now it was time to try something a bit more serious and a lot more comfortable. It was time to try eat my pride and solicit the help of a Dating Coach.

Enter Laurie Davis (eFlirt Expert), a Dating Coach based out of NYC who specializes in online dating. She uses her background in PR marketing to tailor a person’s profile and online appearance to best attract the quality woman they are seeking. Her experience doesn’t just exist in the online realm, but reaches into the offline world. While the idea of seeing a dating coach seems a bit humiliating, I’m not beyond asking for help. To see how legitimate she was, last Wednesday I arrived at her weekly free advice seminar at Aroma on the Upper West Side. [Read The Rest Of This Entry]
