
Many leave a career to explore the opportunities another career and experience would provide. This was the case with dating coach and matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson, who left a wealthy portfolio management job to become a full-time matchmaker. Paul (on Twitter as @OneDegreeFromMe) began his second profession as a dating coach and matchmaker in 2008, after noticing a specific need in the black community. While running a summer camp for underserved youth in DC, he explained that, “100% of the children only had one parent in the household.” He saw the effects of the issue; having a one parent household had negatives effects on the children especially as it pertained to their culture and education level.
