Question for Women

Would You Date Your Good or Best Guy Friend?

I’m finding more and more women tend to date their good friends or the best friends. Often they don’t end up in a relationship immediately, but over time reconsider the guy as a potential dating partner. Many men like to think they have a chance with their cute female friends. I often consider I continue to have a chance with them, although I’m never really holding out hope. Many movies show women who’ve ignored an unassuming guy, as he turns into the love of their life. I’m not sure if this is truly the case, but it begs the question. Would you date your good or best guy friend?

  1. Personally speaking, I ended up dating 2 really close guy friends, and the relationships actually lasted for a little while. However, I realized with both guys after a certain point, there was no more attraction and we were back to being just friends. I would rather hang out with them than sleep with them, and I have to say they felt the same. I’m still friends with one, but not the other. Depends on the situation, I’d say.

  2. I want so badly to answer this with a firm no. Damn you, SCG, for being so engaging!

Instead, I will say that that people do not *suddenly* realize that the person who is their best friend is amazing. Either they realize it but that person is taken or they realize it but something inside them rejects the idea. Gut instincts, insecurity, fear, foresight that says, “This will never work”… what have you. People have their reasons, whether they discuss them or not. Chemistry as the glue in all relationships… sometimes it just has good timing and cross the line. :)
